Cancellation Clause
Definition
A cancellation clause is a section in a performance contract that defines the terms, penalties, and refund conditions if either party cancels the booking.
Context & Usage
A well-structured cancellation clause uses a tiered approach: full refund if cancelled 60+ days out, deposit retained at 30–60 days, full fee payable under 30 days. It should also cover artist cancellation (full refund plus best-effort replacement), force majeure (no penalty for either side), and rescheduling options. Written cancellation notice via email is standard.
